Personal Connection Song

My personal Connection song is “Serious Times” by Gyptian. This song makes a connection to me because it was when my 2 big brothers died May 20th, 2009. Every time i listen to this song i makes me cry because its just a song that brings back the memories of how hard it was to get over the fact that they died and my cousin was very critical in the hospital. It was a serious time and a very hard time. what happened shocked me and still does because it just happened out of no where. This song was written in 2002 by the Jamacian artist Gyptian. He was born and raised in Jamica and wrote this song about the violence he would see everyday in the street. he also wrote the song about the struggles of everyday life of many people who don’t seem to give up and give up, so they don’t try no more.__Personal Connection Song__,
__Listen to Personal Connection Grade- Serious Time__ (youtube) or jango: __song__
Others who have listened to this song feels its a powerful and heart wrenching song they could connect to and understand the things he is talking about.Just as i do many could walk the streets of today and see that violence has become a huge deal in the world increasing year by year.

My Personal Connection Song

My personal connection song has a good, funny memory that comes along with it. My song is “Forget You” by Cee-Lo which is considered to be an R&B soul genre. The song was written by Bruno Mars and Phil Lawrence who were just fooling around singing F*** You, but when Cee-Lo sang the lyrics they thought it could become a big hit. They posted it on YouTube and the video broke the two million view mark within one week of its release but it also received some criticism for the bad language that was said in the song. Soon enough they produced the revised version of the song which is Forget You. When Cee-Lo was interviewed he spoke about what his thoughts were about the song by saying “I mean, it’s based on something true... As far as me personally, it’s not a current event. It’s a figurative account. It’s not completely fictitious though”. The message I get from this song is he’s singing about an ex girlfriend who left him for someone else who had more money, in his song he sings...

“I see you driving 'round town
with the girl I love and I'm like,
forget you!
Oo, oo, ooo
I guess the change in my pocket
Wasn't enough I'm like,
forget you!
And forget her too!
I said, if I was richer, I'd still be with ya”

The memory I have with this song is my uncle came over to my house and he always tells me what new music is hot and what’s not. He called me downstairs and said “wait till you hear this one” the song Forget You starts playing and he started dancing around and singing “Forget you! OO OO OO” Other people on song facts thinks the only thing bad was the original song which dropped 16 f-bombs in just 3.5 minutes but once the song was changed; no one had anything bad to say about it.

A song that brings back a lot of memories would have to be build me up buttercup by the foundations, they were a British soul band known for their two biggest hits “ Baby Now That I’ve Found You” and “Build Me Up Buttercup being one of these two biggest hits. This song was a big hit and was frequent listened to during the 1960’s, it reached number 2 on the UK charts and number 3 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100. In 3rd grade I had a teacher named Mr.Carter and he is a teacher that I wouldn’t forget about. I remember he would play it during class whenever he would give us independent work to do and or when we needed to concentrate on a test or project. I know and remember that he would sing to it and dance. I would go home with the lyrics of the song stuck in mind. Eventually, he left the school to teach at another sc hool and till this day when i listen to the song i specifically remember my third grade teacher Mr.Carter.

My personal connection song is __Tears in Heaven__ by __Eric Clapton__. This song is written by Clapton to express his feelings after the accidental death of his son Conor. Four year old Conor Clapton was playing in the family apartment with his mother when they were cleaning the windows. The cleaners had left the windows open and young Conor ran out of the window and out of the 53rd floor and fell onto the 4 story building next to the apartment. Eric was in complete shock and spiraled into depression after this event. Clapton’s career came to a stop, and then to express his emotions in the only way he knew how, he wrote this song and many others. This song was a favorite of the nation. Many people who had just lost a loved one looked at it as a form of expression as well. The song made its way to the top of the charts and remained there for about six weeks. Fans adored the come back of Clapton, and to this day this remains as one of his most memorable songs. To me this song has a lot of meaning, because after my grandfathers death in 2001, my family never really knew how to express their grief in other ways than in tears. I was too young to understand that my grandfather had passed away. Last year, when I received the news that my cousin’s grandfather had died i went into shock. I had seen him just fine the past summer when I visited. I knew my family was going through a hard time. For the burial, my cousins decided to make a slide show of their grandfathers life. While they were looking for music, I wanted to help out. I asked my aunt for a song that help her pass through had times and she told me about this song by Clapton. When I heard the song, I knew I heard it before, and as it turns out “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton was the song that help my aunt get through the death of my grandfather. My cousins didn't use the song in the presentation, but I found a song to bring me back to those days of both of their deaths and understand the events that had occurred.

My personal connection song is She Will Be Loved By Maroon 5. This song was memorable when I was young on my way to visit my uncle's aunt i think. The day was sunny and so many great songs were on. Then came the song and in the cramped car with me sitting on my cousins lap, everyone in the car sang along. It was a beautiful and one of the best moments in my life. Those easy childhood days and I had a fun time. The song is about a guy who loves a girl but she only comes to him when shes dumped and he hopes she realizes one day that they should be together.

My personal song is ‘I Like It’ by Enrique Iglesias feat. Pitbull. This song reminds of my summer. I had an accident with my leg and i couldnt walk, move or even go to the bathroom by myself. Whole summer long i was in bed; it hurt really bad. I used to lay in bed and listen to this song over and over and sing along to it. I liked the song a lot, I used to fist pump in bed. Even though this was a hard time in my life, I look back and I see how grateful I am of my family. They took care of me when I was hurt and I love my family. This Dance-Pop song is the second single from Spanish Pop singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias' ninth studio album,Eurphoria.

My Personal connection song is __Young Forever__ by Jay- Z ft. Mr. Hudson. Young Forever is a Hip-Hop/ R&B song from the album “The Blueprint 3”which was produced by Kanye West and covered by Jay-Z. I believe the the songwriter’s message is to enjoy every everyday of our childhood, because these are the days that we will miss the most. When kids are young, their lives are pure, innocent and holds precious memories that an adult can never come across for the rest of his life. When we all grow up, we have to spend time Paying bills and working for our families to survive rather than going to school and doing some homework. This song makes me miss my past years in 4th and 5th grade. A moment that I especially remember when i listen to this song is that when me a my friend Hakeem McKeller would walk home or take the bus after school. He always ‘had my back’. One time, we were going home and I was fooling around and i fell and scraped my knee and I didn’t have the money to get on the bus. So he gave me his two dollars and put me on the bus and he walked home. As we all start to grow, each year, we have a some kind of a new responsibility placed on our shoulders. There is one comment on the information about the song on songfacts and it agrees with Mr. Hudson’s feelings about the song, which is included in description with the information about the song.

I have many songs that I connect to, but I chose the best out of all. I couldn’t choose the best, they were all so perfect. This song reminds me to stay intact with the religion Islam and to stay focused on its values. The artist of my song is Kamal Uddin. His beautiful sounds of music help me stay in the path of Islam and not go astray. This artist sang this song themselves, but it was made by Kyrul Uddin. With their creative minds they put the message out to other people to stay on the right path of Islam as well. This song reminds me of all my prayers and all the conventions I went to with my family to celebrate and learn more about Islam. People on YouTube agree with me about ho nice the song is. Some people said :
“mashallah its sooo beautiful”

“mashallah..praise the allmighty... beautiful song...”

“ya allah subhanaallah”
This song makes me happy. The song is as follow:

SubhanaAllah By Kamal Uddin (Quran Recitation/Song):

__My Personal Connection Link__----I believe that your personal connection song is truley great because it exposes how much your religion means to you which i think is a good thing right now due to the fact that the younger generation tend to get influenced so fast and so they forget about their religion and its beliefs. - ShivanniShew

Personal Connection Song: "Let It Be-The Beatles"
Due to the fact that this song was created to talk about moving on, it sort of reminds me of my past problems. It brings me back to the emotional parts in my life, however; this isn’t an entirely suppressing memory. Remembering the past with this song, it also helps me recall the moments that I moved on with my life and became stronger. Truth be told, I’m not even really sure how to describe how I feel towards this song. Overall, it is just an amazing and powerful song that can connect to anyone, whether they like The Beatles or not. The lyrics to this song are beautiful and this is why this has become my personal connection song. Not only does this song have an emotional connection to me, it had one for Paul McCartney. This song was played at Linda McCartney’s funeral.

Comments:
I agree that this is an amazing song with meaningful lyrics. - Sadashaya

My personal reflection song has a very great memory too it because it was one of the songs that I sung at my fifth grade graduation. The song is called Worlds Greatest by R.Kelly. I believe that this song was a perfect choice to sing at out graduation because it was truly inspirational and uplifting. I remembered my mom coming to tears as the entire graduating class was singing. When I share this song with other people, they can tell that is a song that I can really connect too. They know that this song is definitely one of my all time favorites. The song Worlds Greatest has lyrics that can truly bring your mood up when your down, its a song that motivates you to be happy and its a song that makes you want to strive for the best.

Some of the Lyrics :

“I'm that star up in the sky

I'm that mountain peak up high

Hey, I made it

I'm the world's greatest

And I'm that little bit of hope

When my back's against the ropes

I can feel it

I'm the world's greatest ”

Genre: Pop Soul

This song reminds me of a memory of 5th grade. The lyrics such as “ Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten”
To me, this represents that life is an empty book, you have to write it yourself. At that time, I was in the 5th grade, and at that time, my book was “empty” This was where my book began.
Whenever i hear this song it always reminds me of 5th grade graduation.
The writer of the song is Natasha Bettingfield

“Bedingfield wrote this for her brother on his birthday as a birthday gift because she was short on cash. It's about living life to the fullest, not planning everything because you never know what may happen. Each day is a blank page and it is up to you to fill it. This song conveys the idea of keeping our eyes open for all the possibilities in our life.” (1)
People on songfacts think that life could end at any moment so enjoy every minute of it.
I’ve actually always known what the song was about.

I Would like to present my song by showing a slideshow of my 5th grade graduation

I had the same exact graduation song! It reminds me of a lot too. -Nayeem

My personal connection song is “Under The Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This song is significant to me because it brings me back to the year my older brother and sister left. Chris moved to New Jersey to start a new life; he wanted to be closer to his girlfriend and was looking for a new job. Nina had just started college and was thinking about marrying her boyfriend of a few years. Although my older siblings didn’t live with me, they were around often. We all listened to music together, cooked food, and did something new everyday. The fact that they were moving on in their lives scared me. I felt as if I were alone and I wouldn’t have that kind of fun anymore.

Great song. I feel your pain when saying goodbye to someone. - Esteban Acosta 901

My personal connection song is Just Stand Up and it is sung by various artists (Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Fergie, Leona Lewis, Keyshia Cole, Miley Cyrus, LeAnn Rimes, Natasha Bedingfield, Melissa Etheridge, Ciara, Mariah Carey, Ashanti, and Nicole Sherzinger). I have many personal connections with this song. Since I heard it was about cancer, I think about my aunt who is suffering from it. She’s gone through so much but she still lives her life as a normal person. She doesn’t let anything bring her down because she knows that it’ll only make it worse. Although she’s lost so much from cancer, she still stands strong. This song also reminds me of leaving my friends. I hated thinking about leaving them when I graduated because I knew that I’d hardly see them. I was so mad when we applied for the same schools but we all got chosen for different ones. We were all separated. My friends were my family and we went through almost everything together. In elementary school I hardly even knew my friends but I went to middle school and I experienced the best times of my life with them. This song also reminds me of all the bad things that have happened to me and how I got through them.

That was my 8th grade graduation song ! :D

Its a great song! My school MS 137 played this song in Brooklyn College. It made me tear :) Great Memories - Esteban Acosta 901

Another Way to Die - click to listen.
Another Way to Die by the band Disturbed is a metal song written by the band’s front man David Michael Draiman. The song is technically an acknowledgment of Global Warming. Another Way to Die describes the horrible catastrophes that Global Warming will lead to. It is practically saying that Global Warming is another way to die, something we don’t need. Every time I find my self or other people doing things that harm the Earth such as littering and wasting water, I remember the song. This makes Another Way to Die a very memorable song to me because it comes into my head many times. To other people , the song is very inspirational, because it inspires people to help slow down global warming. Besides that, people believe the song is very relevant to a major dilemma we have today.

My Personal Song

The name of my song that I connect to with a memory is, __How To Save A Life by The Fray.__ The lead singer of this group named, Isaac Slade wrote this song about an experience he had working at a camp for troubled youths. He said that, "One of the kids I was paired up with was a musician. Here I was, a protected suburbanite, and he was just 17 and had all these problems. And no one could write a manual on how to save him”. He got many emails back on the song from people saying that it had a great meaning to them. In fact one kid died in a car accident and it happened to be the last song he downloaded on his ipod before he died. They played it at his funeral, and many of his friends got “Save A Life” tattooed in their arms. The message I got from this song was, you should spend as much time you have with the people in your life as you can. Don’t take advantage of the people in your life because they are not always going to be there. My personal memory with this song is when my grandfather passed away in 2008 this was a song that he liked to listen to with me, and it makes me think of him every time I hear it and every time I think about the message I get from this song. He was old so I took advantage of him sometimes and the time I had with him. Other people on song facts feel mostly the same as me. At __song facts__ i found that people felt the same way I did. For instance a comment from Joel, Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom said This is a very touching song. It makes sense that it has been used on such medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy and House, M.D. I don't recall hearing it on Scrubs but I'm sure it was used. Wow, this song really is deep, I don't see why anyone would not like this song, it has so much meaning to it, said Edward from Florida. This song is great and it touches people around the world. Comments:I love this song and this song apparently has alot of heartfelt meanings behind it. I can also connect with this song, too. -SadashayaI remember when this song was the Scrubs theme song on Comedy Central, I used to watch it all the time with my brother. Then when he moved out I stopped watching the show, I can relate to this song too. I love it. ---Sabrina Mohamad

Personal Connection Song

My personal connection song is “Moving Mountains” by Usher. This song has an incredible connection with me not only for the lyrics but for the mood of the song. This brings memories of when I used to live in Manhattan; I had a numerous amount of problems with my mother, father and brother. Everyday was filled with arguments and fights. In school I didn’t want to do work and I had many arguments with friends and enemies as well as teachers. Hearing this song helped me think of why these things happen and if its my fault or not. The mood of the song matched exactly how I felt at the moment and it helped me feel better. Usher wrote this song about maintaining a relationship that has gone cold and trying to get over her. Although this may not have the same meaning for me, others do agree. An example is something Faye said from Chicago, IL“This song makes me cry.. there is so much emotion behind it, it is hard to take it all in! In the music video, I can feel the pain in his voice. I think Usher has really progressed as a male in the entertainment industry and he is not singing about the things that he used to when he was younger...he's grown up. I hope it hits the top of the charts but that people see what this song is really about." This song has a enormous amount of meaning to me and I hope others feel the same way that I do.
GOOOD Job! :D You did your homework :) and In all honesty, this is a great song :) - Esteban Acosta 901

- Hello, this is Esteban Acosta from the Robert H. Goddard High School in Ozone Park, Queens. Today I will be showing you the city New York. “New York New York, the city so nice they named it twice” Michale Scott. New York has 5 boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx. The first borough I will introduce is Queens. The borough Queens has one of the most densely populated boroughs in New York..This is where I live. There is the bourough of Brooklyn. This borough has also may attractions like Prospect Park and City Hall. There is also Staten Island which has the Verazano Bridge. This bridge provides many people with transportation through New Jersey and other states. There is also the Bronx which is filled with urban neighborhoods and filled with many cultural diffusion.
Last but not least there is the the borough of Manhattan. Manhattan is known for its amazing buildings, historical city parks, and famous sights. One famous sight is the metropolitan museum or art which is known for its exhibits such as the Greek statue exhibit and the Egyptian exhibit. There is also Rockefeller center which is the location of the yearly new york city Christmas tree and the Rockefeller center skating rink. Another thing that new york is famous for its the great buildings. An example is the empire state building. This building was created in 1931 and to this day it is the tallest building in new york city. There are many things in new york, you just gotta discover it!

Hello my name is Juan Moreno and i will be teaching how to make an origami crane. This will take lots of experience with origami. If you have no experience please visit :.... and try making some of the easier origami figures.......Let’s get started..... First what you are going to want to have is very thin origami paper. This is very important and if you are not in possession of origami paper, then you can improvise with regular computer paper. What you are going to do now is make 4 creases, 2 diagonal and one horizontal and vertical. After you are done with this you are going to try and fold the creases into each other and try to make a square water bomb base. Then you are going to want to fold the flaps into the middle so now the paper looks like a diamond on both sides. When this is done, you want to open up these creases and try to make a crane base. repeat this on the other side. Then what are going to want to do is fold the sides into the middle and again repeat this on the other side. What you are going to do now is fold the bottom to the top and then make a tiny fold on the top to make a small triangle. Repeat this step on the other side but without the small triangle. Then you will fold it down the middle. Don’t open it up. you are going to be pulling the unfolded flaps. There you go you have a crane.

Hi and Welcome to Samiha’s Treat. Today we are going to bake some Pillsburry’s original delicious chocolate fudge brownies. To begin with, we will need some ingredients such as Pillsbury’s baking mix, 2 eggs, 2/3 cup of vegetable oil, 1/4 cup of water. We can start of by mixing all the ingredients in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and chocolaty. Afterwards, grease the 13 by 9 inch pan so the brownies don’t get stuck to the pan. Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (Pre -heat 15 minutes). As soon as you’ve done that, set the pan inside the oven and the brownies should be ready by 25 to 30 minutes. Once the brownies are done you can dig in!

Soccer is a sport that is played all around the world by professionals and by many others. Soccer is one of my great passions so I will show you some soccer basics.

My voice-over:
A basic rule of soccer is to keep the ball inside the boundary of the field. if the ball leaves the field boundary, the player who had kicked the ball last before the ball went out of the boundary is the player who is responsible for the out-of-bounds call. Then, another player from the opposing team must throw the ball to one of his team-mates and continue the game.

My voice-over: In soccer, fouling is when an opposing player slides to trip a player or tackles the player. If the referee sees a foul that is a very dangerous one, he shows a yellow or red card to the fouler. red cards suspend the player completely from the game. yellow cards are warnings. If a player earns two to three yellow cards in one game, they wont be allowed to play their next game.
My voice-over
: And, you can never touch the ball with your hands. you may headbutt it, you may use your chest to stop high passes, but it cannot touch any part of your arm. that’s a hand-ball. and the player who is able to play by the rules and kick the ball into the goal earns his team a point.

My voice-over: Being able to play is a good thing. But, being able to play, by the rules a better thing. it just shows that the player can put up with challenges when it comes to this sport.

Everyday thousands of teens wake up afraid to go to school because they are afraid that they are going to be bullied or picked on.. Bulling isn’t just someone punching you in the face , putting you in a locker, or even calling you names that you don’t like. Bullying is allot more then that. Bulling is when a person is picked on over and over again by an individual or group with more power, either in terms of physical strength or social standing. Two main reasons why people are bullied are because of appearance and social status. There are many different types of bulling. The first type is Physical bullying. Physical bulling includes any physical contact that would hurt or injure a person like hitting, kicking, punching, etc. Taking something that belongs to someone else and destroying it would also be considered a type of physical bullying. In elementary and middle schools, 30.5% of all bullying is physical. The next type of bulling is verbal bullying. Verbal bulling is name-calling, making offensive remarks, or joking about a person's religion, gender, ethnicity, social status, or the way they look.46.5% of all bullying in schools is the verbal type. There is also indirect bullying. This is when a person is spreading rumors or stories about someone, telling others about something that was told to you in private, and excluding others from groups.18.5% is indirect bullying. Social alienation is when a bully excludes someone on purpose. Intimidation is when a bully threatens someone and frightens that person enough to make him or her do what the bully wants. The last type of bullying is cyberbullying. This can be done by sending messages, pictures, or information using electronic media, computers (email & instant messages), or cell phones (text messaging & voicemail). Either way you want to put it, bullying is wrong. Bullying hurts even if you think it doesn’t. If you were bullied, how would you feel?-Chitranie Sukraj

Voice Over: Water; two molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen, its so simple but so important. Water makes up 70% of the world, and is essential for life on Earth. If water is so important why damage large bodies of water. Water pollution is very common now with the increase of the industrialism. Waste is constantly being dumped into large bodies of water causing harm to the ecosystem, but most people do not care because in the modern world what's out of sight is out of mind. It isn’t until something terrible happens that people take interest. On April 20,2010 the BP oil well in the Gulf of Mexico exploded because the well sprung a leek due to a failure in the cement mixture that helped contain the oil. Tons of oil was spilled into the ocean, 11 workers where killed, and thousands of ecosystems where destroyed. The oil has spread to the Louisiana coast line and this threatens the lives of species of plants animals of the coast, and residents as well. With the damages so large it will be difficult to clean up the mess. The EPA has done about 440 controlled fires on the Louisiana coastline to clean up the fire, and even though the fires control the amount of carbon dioxide it is still harmful to the residents of the coastline and the environment. All of the harm that we have causes to the environment has been exposed after the oil spill, and maybe its not too late to start fixing our environmental mistakes.

Everyone listens to music these days. Music originated from the Paleolithic Era. It is now a big part of American culture. Music is a form of art whose medium is sound. Artists can influence a person’s actions and can make a change. For example, when Rihanna got beat up by her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, America rallied and was notified about domestic violence. The creation, performance, significance, and definition of music varies. Music helps people express themselves since there are many different genres that people can relate to. There are different kinds of music including Hip Hop... Rap... Pop... Rock... Country... and RnB. Music can influence others and can relate to a persons real life situations. It can influence others beliefs. For example, the song “Just Stand Up” was sung by various artists. These artists sung about standing up to cancer and fighting it.

At first I though boxing was just punching and knockouts but when I began taking MMA, for me it took boxing to a whole new level. I practice mixed martial arts three times a week and I am very passionate about it, boxing wasn’t just punching and attacking anymore. Now it’s learning how to block and duck, learning how to give space and knowing when to attack without getting hurt. I trained harder and harder until I was offered the chance to fight in tournaments, I participated in the fighting and grappling division. I think that people believe fighting is just punching but when you practice a martial art and you’re very passionate about it you realize that it’s much more than that. I have learned certain stuff that is dangerous; it gives you the confidence just knowing that you can defend yourself if it is ever needed. Some have even said that Mixed Martial Arts is irrelevant because we have weapons but it’s different when you can physically defend yourself without using illegal weapon. I hope one day to reach my goal of becoming a female professional UFC boxer and to become a black belt with multiple degrees.

My passion is playing tabla. Tabla is a cultural instrument that is sort of like drums. I am Hindu, so I participate in many cultural events. I am very encouraged when it comes to tabla because it is something that has already made me smile even more than normal. I took on the challenge around April of 2010, it wasn’t easy, believe me, but now I think I got the hang of it. One very important factor in learning Tabla is that you have to memorize notes of the drums, just like how you would memorize notes for playing piano. Tabla is now something I go to when I want to feel happy, have fun and even become more spirited. Tabla is more of a guys’ thing to do, so when I made my debut, everyone was shocked because they are used to seeing me sing. In the end of my first performance, I felt even more encouraged because everyone was applauding and smiling. Tabla is definitely making a great impact in my life so far and I am very grateful to have this opportunity to start something new and i know it will be worth it in the long run.
